Used Textbook Sales (Semester 1)




Hello everyone! As a brand new academic year starts, we will be conducting a used textbook sales for Freshmen and Juniors. Therefore we would be collecting used textbooks from the Year 1 and Year 2 students of the academic year AY15/16.


             
What are the books being collected?
Year 1: BOA (Microsoft Excel 2013 Illustrated Series), Business Statistics (Statistical Techniques in Business & Economics), FA (Accounting: An Introductory Framework)
Year 2: CAS (Accounting information systems), CMA (Managerial Accounting: Creating Value in a Global Business Environment)


When are the books being collected?
Juniors AY16/17: 25th April 2016 (Monday)
Seniors AY16/17: 25th April 2016 (Monday)


Where are the books being collected?
Outside LT23


What time are the books being collected?
Monday (25th April 2016): 11am - 1.30pm


Is it possible for a friend to send in your book on your behalf?
No, we require the signature of the original owner as there will be an acknowledgement slip upon collection of the used textbook.


How do we ensure that you will get back the money from the sale of textbook(s)?
Upon collection of the textbook, there will be an acknowledgement slip and you will be required to fill in your name, class and admin number. The return of money will be done at a later date.


Are we collecting books with missing/torn pages?
We will not be collecting books with missing pages as the books must be up to a certain quality (up to discretion). However, missing cover page is alright! If you are not sure whether your used textbooks will be accepted, you can bring them along to check with the main committee members that are collecting the books on the day itself.


Is it compulsory to join the balloting?
No. It is not but it is advisable as you are able to purchase the textbook(s) at a cheaper price compared to its retail price. The textbook(s) will be used in your semester of study.


How do you ballot for the used textbook(s)?:
Balloting paper will be distributed to each class during the first week of school for the different books. If you are interested in balloting for the used textbooks, fill up the balloting paper and drop it into the respective balloting boxes.

Where can the balloting box be found at?:
Freshmen: Outside LT 23
Juniors: Outside LT 19

When and what time can you drop off the balloting slip at the different boxes?:
Freshman: 27th April 2016 (Wednesday), 2pm - 4pm
Juniors: 27th April 2016 (Wednesday), 11am - 1pm

How many chances do every individual get?:
Everyone is only entitled to one chance as balloting slips are serialized. If you lose your balloting slips, you would not be able to participate in the ballot.


  
How do you know if you are chosen to buy the textbook(s)?:
Successful bidders will be notified through WhatsApp. The name list of successful bidders will also be put up on the A&F Notice Board and this blog.

Where can you collect your textbooks?:
Outside LT 20

When and what time can you collect your textbook(s)?:
Freshman: 28th April 2016 (Thursday), 4pm - 5.30pm
Juniors: 28th April 2016 (Thursday), 11.30am - 1.30pm

What if you miss the timing to collect your textbook(s)?
If you do miss your timing to collect your book(s), your book(s) will be given to another random ballot.

How much does the books cost?:
Textbooks for Freshmen: Financial Accounting ($22), BOA [Excel] ($16), Business Statistics ($12)
Textbooks for Juniors: Computerized Accounting System ($22), Cost & Management Accounting ($22)



When and where are we returning funds from the sales of used textbook(s)?:
6th May 2016 (Friday), 1pm - 3pm. Outside LT 19

What do you need to bring along when you collect the money from the sale of your textbook(s)?:
Please remember to bring along your acknowledgment slip if not you will not be able to collect your money back. Hence, please keep it well and do not to lose your acknowledgment slip. You can also make a copy of the acknowledgment slip in case you lose the actual copy.

Is it possible for someone else to collect the money on your behalf?:
No, it is not possible. If you are unable to make it down to collect the money, do let the main committee members know and we will arrange another date and time for you to collect your money. If you do not re-arrange another date and time with us, your money will be donated to the TP's Campus Care Network (CCN) instead.
