A&F LOCAL CIP: KOVAN CITY OF SHARING

Hi everyone!! Kovan City of Sharing is the upcoming A&F local CIP by Paya Lebar Kovan Community Centre Youth Executive Committee (PLKCC YEC).

For the CIP on Kovan City of Sharing, we would be required to collect dry rations and canned food from the residents. The residents would already be informed of this collection beforehand through door to door flyer distributions. The food products collected would then be sorted out and donated to St Luke Hospital, Society for the aged sick, Sheng Hong Family Service Centre, Pertapis and Aljunied Wellness Centre.

Date: 23 July 2016 (Saturday)

Duration: 9AM - 5PM

Location: Kovan Hub [206 Hougang St 21, Singapore 530206]

The 1st half of the event will be the food collection. We would be collecting food products from residents living near the collection point (Kovan Hub) - both Kovan and Hougang estates. As you will be going to various locations to collect the food products, there may be a need to use public transport (most likely bus) on that day. You would also be required to knock on their doors to ask if they are willing to donate food products.

The 2nd half of the event will be the sorting of food products collected. We would be sorting the food products into halal and non-halal food, and expiring or expired food products.

Do not worry if you are unfamiliar with the directions to Kovan Hub! We would be meeting at Kovan MRT station at 8.45AM before heading down to Kovan Hub together.

As it is a whole day event, food will be provided in between the event by the organisation for the students helping out.

We are hoping and looking for around 40 to 50 students to volunteer and help out for this event. This event will be opened up to all Year 1s to 3s and sign up would be on a first come first serve basis. Seal points will also be awarded to students that helped out in this event.
